Programme Cohort 2026
Carbon Dioxide Removal
from a Systems Perspective
A twelve-place programme delivered by the Kuehne Climate Center in partnership with Heriot-Watt University. Selection is by written application alone — no interview stage.
APPLICATIONS CLOSE 30 OCTOBER 2026
Programme Overview
Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) is an essential climate mitigation approach that complements emissions reductions by removing and durably storing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
The programme aims to build a network of CDR logistics champions across Africa who understand the critical role of supply chains in scaling carbon removal solutions.
Participants will complete a specialized training course and become advocates for integrating logistics considerations into CDR project development and deployment.
The expected impact is increased African expertise, stronger CDR value chains, and greater readiness to scale carbon removal solutions and the supply chain systems that support them across the continent.
This is intended as the first cohort of a growing community of practitioners. Future cohorts are planned to expand regional capacity and collaboration, to be determined based on the response to this one.

What we look for
The 300-word response to our scenario question is the primary selection instrument. We read for specificity, professional anchoring, and a working understanding of operational trade-offs in real African logistics contexts.
Strong applicants name the constraints they have personally dealt with. They explain what they will not optimise for, and why. They identify where their plan is most likely to fail, and how they would notice.
A maximum of twelve participants will be selected. Passive participation in a 10-person cohort creates a systemic liability for all other participants — we expect commitment.
